It's funny how I can feel nostalgic when I wasn't even around here back then. *grin* The tug still gets me. What can I say, I'm like Pavlov's dog. Ring the bell...I drool.

Awww...good times.
There really is nothing like the first time you see him, is there? Nat reminded me when she was talking about him rising up during TITN... I just remember when I saw him in NJ on the AI Tour...I could not believe it was him in the flesh...so exciting! And I remember preparing myself because I knew Invisible was coming...and then there he was, rising up to the center of the stage, sitting indian style with his hand under his chin, just smiling at the audience...and.the.place.went.nuts!!! I'll never forget it as long as I live. It's funny...that first time was beyond exciting...it's like I couldn't believe he was real. And now when I see him, it's still really exciting but there's a really nice familiar feeling. It's kind of like seeing an old friend. I believe that in every life there is a song to be sung. Go. Dr. Nat - I totally remember the sideways video! I watched the dang thing sideways before it was fixed!
Ah...the first time is always special. Hee. He was a little speck from my seat, but he was a mighty cute speck rising up out of the floor. There was much Eeeeeing. And I somehow managed to take 5 or 6 rolls of film - of a speck. The funniest thing...when I went to get the film developed with my friends and we were flipping through the pictures right at the counter at Wal-Mart, we all squealed like the biggest fangirls alive when we came to the first picture that was remotely distinguishable as him. The lady working the photo lab told us we nearly gave her a heart attack. Amanda

One thing I remember about the "Oh My God, what is that move" video is that I had dial up at the time so my connection was slow to begin with.
But there were so many people trying to download that file at the same time that I started my download early that evening and it wasn't done until about 6am the next morning! And yes, I got up at 6am to check it! I think that was before we had all the different clack sites. I believe that in every life there is a song to be sung. Go. Find your voice. Quote:I had the exact same reaction when I saw him for the first time. And I was lucky to have grabbed 5th row center at the last minute for the AI2 Tour in Cincinnati. Actually, I saw him at the buses before the concert too... he was wearin' that blue clues shirt and shorts. I'll never forget the screams he got. What was even more amusing was that the next day one of the medical students I was working with said she was across the river in KY at the Barnes & Noble in Newport (which is basically right along the KY side of the Ohio River) the afternoon of the concert, and she heard screaming from across the river. ~Dr. Nat

Oh goodness...all the frantic DLing back then. I got DSL in the middle of that summer, but I think the first few were DLed with dial-up. I was working summer school and would leave several DLing when I went to work.
It felt like such a boon to have video back then...now we almost take it for granted. It's news when we *don't* get video, not when we do. NYCC... Quote: I remember that - that "I can't believe he's real" feeling. I guess I half-wondered if he was just a figment of my TV or something. Quote: I feel the same way. Amanda

Oh boy!
I remember the old days at TTC.. and I would work during the day (ew! daytime jobs!) and I would get up at like, 6 am and check all the threads... and I mean EVERY SINGLE THREAD that had been posted or replied to since I had gone to bed.. it was pathetic.. but then again, the threads were a bit more tolerable then, too... I mean, they all had substance and weren't a hundred thousand to wade through! lol.. And the video.. wow.. Yeah, OMG OMG What was that move.. I couldn't believe it.. and that horrible first audio version of Invisible.. that when I come across it on shuffle, I can't believe we actually listened to that!! I can't hardly remember my Orlando show... I think I was just in awe... Ft Lauderdale I remember.. it was more clear, and that was AFTER i met him! And, Tampa, still kickin' my own @ss that I didn't go to that one!! lol.. I like reminescing! ![]() |

Look at all this nostalgia! I remember not knowing how to actually get tickets to a concert. I mean, I knew about Ticketmaster, but I never really knew how to work the system. And, of course, the day the tix went on sale for AI, I was at an autism conference. I walked out in the middle of a speaker I really wanted to hear, and then couldn't get through on the phone. I was frantic. There I was, trying to find some local phone number I could call. It seemed to take forever. And then I ended up being needled into confessing what I was up to by the woman who was sitting next to me at the conference. Oy! But I made it to the concert, I was in the 20th row or something, and I thought I was close.

Hi everyone, I have had endless company again so I haven't caught up on everything. I just wanted to post a tip that may work to get that mpeg file to work. It works for me. Just take the e out of the extention so it reads MPG and it will play.
I will be back later after I have caught up. I just read this on the CB. Report from Calliek. Eeeeeeeeee calliek -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Just got an interesting e-mail...thought I'd share. I am continuing to work those I know... Got this tonight: "You'll see something in July. And what I have heard...is amazing. This guy is going to change the musical landscape. Radio impact is already happening. Negotiations for TV are so crazy, I can't begin to tell you." I know it's maddening to not have specifics, but what else I'm getting is that the (campaign) is purposefully being closely guarded for maximum effect. Shock and awe. |

Quote: I think it's possible to convert the mpeg to an avi or wmv, but I don't have the codec in the project labs or at home :P Quote: *scurries off to take the e out of every extension she can find to test the theory* I was sorting through my favourites, and had to revisit the sidelined le fantome de l'opera and l'ange de musique, No one ever sees the Angel; but he is heard by those who are meant to hear him. He often comes when they least expect him, when they are sad and disheartened. Then their ears suddenly perceive celestial harmonies, a divine voice, which they remember all their lives. Well what a fun morning. First everyone telling stories of their 'first time' *cough* and calliek's post. I think I am even more excited about the TV mentions than I am the music itself. I really want to see the man!
At the beginning, I can remember being on dial-up and having the tiniest monitor with really bad definition and color. Half the pictures everyone would discuss I couldn't see. I had to use my imagination a lot. As for the 'OMG!' video, I would watch that and break out in the biggest dumbest grin every time...every single time!...wait a minute...I did that watching the AI5 finale too. I remember being on the boards at TTC and waiting for all of you (I really did not think I would ever go to a concert...ever) to come back home. Long before cell phones were added to the concert experience, we sat and chatted on the boards and just waited for people to come home and tell us everything they had seen and heard. Of course the real excitment came when two different people gave two different descriptions of the same song. lol btw...is it July yet? edited for spelling...some things never change. ![]() |

Quote: Hey..that's where I started my obsession! So, yesterday I busted out MOAM and stuck it in my CD player in the car. I always have a live CD of a concert or something (or my Rascal Flatts) in there, but I decided to be a little nostalic. And to tell you the truth...for some reason I felt like I was listening to a very 'young' Clay. His voice has certainly grown out of MOAM... Quote:Heck, the first time I saw him was last summer in mid second row and it was so strange seeing him in person, I almost couldn't believe it was him. Here's a Yousendit of the thighs: Thighs - wmv
I'm way behind, but I thought I'd put that up first. LOL at Laynie's picture of the Thighmaster - and yet another name for him is born. Quote:Hee. "If I was Invisible then I could just watch you in your room... practising your thighmaster moves. CbA has such great ideas for thread titles. I can't think of anything, but I guess it'll have be something to do with the hair... or the new album. Wondering what YSRN will come up with. Quote:Yeah, good one Stacia! You're all making me feel really nostalgic talking about the old days. Quote:I'm SO envious of that, NYCC. I really wish I'd gotten to go to an AI2 Tour venue. It was early days for us then. It must've been an amazing atmosphere though. Maybe we still have some of that to come though. The excitement of seeing Clay again in concert after such a long period of time will result in some hugely emotional fans I think. Plus I hope he'll have gained loads more fans before he goes back on tour. Quote:That's how I felt when I saw him first - when I first met you, NYCC! I too remember the sideways video, Nat, I loved it to bits. Quote:Wow Laynie, front row! How great. That's the only way I'd get hubby to come to a Clay concert - with earplugs. But I've decided I'd rather leave him at home anyway. The OMG video at St Paul was indeed special. I loved it and still love it now. He still looks drop dead gorgeous. Since we're talking about 1st times - the first time I saw Clay was AI tour 2003 in Atlanta at Phillips arena. It was the first time I traveled to any concert by myself and didn't come home that same night.
The electricity in the air was thick and when he came out the first time, the place exploded! Invisible rocked and I was hooked for life for the live Clay experience. 13 shows later I'm still hooked more so than ever. ![]() |
